How to remember your dreams

Article by: the_how_to_guy | November 18, 2008 - 3:56 am |

So think you don't dream, or maybe you do dream and when you wake up you can't really remember what your dreams were about. Well my friends I thought I'd share with you how one can recall what they had dreamed about the night before. Although I never did try this myself I figured I'd share with you several steps you can take to try and recall your dreams... I'm going to try out myself starting tonight.

  • Give Yourself a Command Before falling asleep at night, inform your subconscious mind that you will remember your dreams. Be authoritative—it will respond if it knows you’re determined.
  • Collect Fragments and Feelings At first, all you may recall is a fragment of a dream—a person’s face, an odd detail. Or, you may be left with an overall feeling when you awake. It’s essential to write these things down. As you do so, more will come.
  • Be Persistent Continue commanding your subconscious mind each night as you fall asleep, even if the results are slow. You’re creating a habit—and habits take 21 days to take root. Even if you think a dream is silly or meaningless, note it in your journal. As you ponder it later, you may realize its relevance to your life.
  • Celebrate Your Success When you remember a dream, write it down immediately—even just a few words in the middle of the night to remind you later. Take a few moments to ponder it in the morning and write down any feelings or impressions it left you with, or creative notions you wish to pursue. Pay particular attention to dialog and animals that may offer messages.

Interesting

I don't remember any of my dreams. Maybe the odd time but only in bits a pieces. I think I might have to give this a shot, I hope I don't remember my nightmares though.
