The History Of Methamphetamine

So I was browsing around the old www (world wide web), when I came across a few sites regarding the use of methamphetamine (crystal meth). Now I know what your thinking, and the answer is no I wasn't looking for resources on how to produce meth, I was only interested in it's origins. The history of drugs is a fascinating topic which is rarely discussed. As a youth I could remember my parents telling me don't do drugs, why? because it's bad. And it's safe to say the majority of street drugs are not productive for society.
But this isn't about that. This is about where methamphetamine comes from. The facts on meth seem to be ever changing and one opinion seems to vary from the next. Most sites I found regarding meth were the usual anti-drug/rehabilitation center web sites promoting the sober way of living. The usual stereotypes were made, my favorite being the statistics of a meth user, in which the majority of users come from low income families. It makes me think if maybe the government cut our taxes our drug problems would be cured.
As I dug deeper into the subject I found a lot of interesting facts. One that stood out above all the rest was the role methamphetamine played in the second world war. Keep in mind the meth produced in that era was made in a much purer form, and in a controlled environment. Japan was said to have made the purest of them all. Now why would soldiers get high on crystal meth? Well you'll have to figure that part out for yourself.
If your interested, and want to learn more on the subject, I recommend this article that can be found at http://www.allpositiveoptions.com/APOMeth13.htm
